Conclusion

The use of color in health-care settings is an important part of any design. The impact of color on people’s perceptions in those settings is important, but it’s influenced by a variety of variables—not all of which are readily discernable nor uniform. Nonetheless, research has helped to create some general suggested guidelines that can be referred to and relied upon when preparing a color plan for a particular facility. Further, when selecting and specifying materials for that facility, non-SBR rubber flooring has been shown to be an appropriate and attractive option, both for achieving and retaining color goals as well as meeting the other needs of health-care facility owners and operators.
