2019 Medical Design Forum: Embracing + Innovating Change

This Live Event happened on February 7, 2019 (10:00am - 2:30pm PST)

This year’s Medical Design Forum includes two days of interdisciplinary presentations, design case studies, and conversations around embracing and innovating change. What are today’s key drivers of change in healthcare and healthcare environments, and how do we approach these changes? How do we measure the social and economic value of innovation, manage risk, and keep humans at the center of design? On February 7 and 8, we welcome AEC and healthcare professionals to join us at this dynamic program that concludes with a virtual tour of St. Charles Bend’s new patient tower under construction.

Learning Objectives

  1. Explore the diversity of innovation and experimentation ongoing in the design and delivery of healthcare and healthcare environments
  2. Understand the tools and strategies used by industry leaders to balance risk and innovate change for the needs of community health and safety
  3. Identify key drivers of change in healthcare, and discuss attributes of adaptive, future-thinking medical facility design
  4. Analyze how changes to client communications, project delivery, and collaborative processes can support more equitable, sustainable, and satisfactory design for clients and end-users
  5. Discuss strategies for bringing research closer to patient care, and understand how design can support that integration
