Codes, Standards, and Compliance… Oh My
Learning Objectives:
- Recognize the key requirements of Chapter 15 for single-ply roofing systems.
- Identify how to locate and understand the available ANSI/SPRI standards, particularly those referenced in the code.
- Cover how SPRI’s standards and resources that aren’t directly referenced in the code can be useful with single-ply roof design.
- Explore recent trends in code development to know where the new requirements are likely to be developed and how SPRI can help with those developments.

A review of the general requirements of the IBC for roofing (Chapter 15) and how SPRI resources can assist with a path to compliance. This review would include a discussion on SPRI’s sponsored Directory of Roof Assemblies (DORA), the library of ANSI standards, starting with the ones referenced in the IBC, and how the others can be useful tools toward roof design. Other resources that supplement or clarify common roof concerns related to single-ply roofing systems will also be addressed.
