The Future of Opaque Facades
UHPC Veneer Facades
Sponsored by Hofmann Facades
Learning Objectives:
- Describe increased use of opaque materials for complex three dimensional facades. Characteristics of different façade systems (handset, strong back, unitized curtain wall, precast stone veneer) and veneer technologies including prominent failures.
- Understand the mechanical and physical properties, technical features of UHPC and benefits of using it for architectural applications, including but not limited to facade cladding, which may include hurricane, seismic or blast loads.
- Describe the interface between UHPC and Natural Stone, Terra-Cotta, Brick and Wood as a combined UHPC Veneer Facade cladding application. Its superiority over precast veneer in terms of dimensions, weight, performance, insulation, fire proofing and additional floor space gains. Innovative applications for UHPC Veneer Façade which far exceed the capabilities of each material on its own
