Webinar On-Demand
Sponsored by GAF | Siplast
Presented by Shawn LeCrone, RRC, RRO, REWO, CD, IIBEC, Andrea Wagner Watts, and Kristin M. Westover, P.E., LEED AP O+M

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify key considerations when designing an energy-efficient roof for educational settings.
  2. Identify effects of roof reflectivity, overburden, and rooftop amenity space on learning and building energy performance.
  3. Evaluate the impact continuous air barriers and insulation have on energy performance of a building, including shorter HVAC runtimes.
  4. Determine how both product and system selection impacts the resiliency, durability, and energy efficiency of an educational building roof.

Considering schools retain buildings for decades, appropriate roofing product and system selection is critical as it can have a significant impact on the immediate, long-term performance, and cost efficiency of a building. Starting with defining key inputs to energy efficiency, including continuous air barriers and insulation, this webinar will evaluate the various roofing assembly options to improve the energy performance of an educational building. Topics covered will include reflective roofing and rooftop overburden, such as solar and amenity spaces, that can provide additional energy generation, learning spaces for students, and how to design and build resilient and durable roofing solutions.

ShawnL

Shawn LeCrone, is President of BEAM Professionals. Shawn leads a team of architects and building envelope consultants who are experts in the designing, testing, and commissioning of a cost-effective, energy-efficient and weather tight system for all six sides of buildings. Shawn is Registered Roof Consultant (RRC), Roof Observer (RRO) and Exterior Wall Observer (REWO) from the International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC). He has enjoyed 20 years of providing all facets of building envelope consulting from Facility Construction Assessments to forensic investigation, material testing and design, preparation of contract documents along with construction administration and construction quality assurance. Having worked in diverse building types gives him a unique perspective and understanding of when to repair, rejuvenate, overlay, or replace each type of building envelope component and/or the overall system.
