Over the past three decades, and in the post-COVID environment, universal design has become increasingly important in the residential space. In addition, changes in the housing market encourage many families to consider multigenerational living. Architects, designers and building professionals can create homes and spaces that are barrier-free, accessible, and inclusively designed so that they are safe, comfortable, resilient, and easy for all occupants to use.
This course will examine the history of inclusive and universal design, its relevance today, and how to design residential homes that are accessible for all. The course will also explore case studies of homes that were designed to be fully inclusive and accessible.

Bryan Cordill is the Director of Residential Business Development for the Propane Education & Research Council. In his role, Cordill leads efforts to support and grow propane demand in the residential and construction markets. Additionally, he facilitates the development and adoption of propane-powered equipment and appliances through business development, product development, and market development activities to preserve existing markets and develop new growth opportunities. Prior to coming to the Propane Council in 2019, Cordill spent 17 years working as a sales manager for his family’s propane business, Cordill Butane-Propane Service — an independent propane supplier in Monroe, Louisiana. Bryan managed the company’s design studio that featured indoor and outdoor kitchen design as well as hearth products. He was then named business development officer at Ajasent Inc., where he provided cloud hosting services for propane and related service companies. Cordill co-founded Proponent LLC — a consulting company — where he worked with company leadership to develop and deploy new strategies. |
The Propane Education & Research Council is a nonprofit that provides leading propane safety and training programs and invests in research and development of new propane-powered technologies. PERC programs benefit a variety of markets including residential and commercial building.
