Designing a continuous insulations barrier can present a challenge when trying to ensure that all connections and transitions are properly sealed. Spray foam insulation can provide a cost-effective and simple one-stop solution to designing and installing an effective continuous insulation strategy. Foam insulation can outperform other traditional types of insulation and also be easier and faster to install that rigid foam board, decreasing construction time and improving thermal performance of the building.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
  • Define both options of foam insulation products (SPF/Rigid Board) for exterior CI project application.
  • Learn about the installation and performance advantages of SPF vs. Rigid Foam Board.
  • Investigate the use of SPF to achieve multiple performance traits in one product including thermal, air, and water resistance.
  • Recognize the installed cost advantages of SPF vs. Rigid Foam Board.
