The Three R's of Terrazzo: Restoration, Renovation, Refinishing
Learning Objectives:
- Define terrazzo and its history, list its components, and its design and performance characteristics.
- Discuss the environmental impacts of terrazzo in relation to durability, material composition and embodied energy, recycled/reuse content, emissions and indoor air quality.
- Use project examples to defend how terrazzo restoration, renovation, and refinishing contribute to meeting environmental and sustainable objectives of reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills and the pollution associated with harvesting and manufacturing replacement materials.
- Describe coefficient of friction, sealers, slip-resistance, and ease of maintenance that contribute to a safe, healthy environment
