Is the tipping point finally here on ditching cubicle curtains? For at least the past decade, healthcare designers and facility managers have been predicting the demise of privacy curtains in hospital and clinical spaces. Many point to the rise of single-patient rooms which afford their own privacy. Others suggest alternatives such as the use of frosted or electronically tintable glass to block views. However, the use of privacy curtains continues at a brisk pace, indicating that this tried-and-true system offers great practicality and still retains a significant place in healthcare settings. Based on all of these observations, this webinar and roundtable discussion covers the current state of privacy curtains – their uses, innovations, and their role in enhancing patient comfort.

Mark Alan is Senior Vice President of Product Management and Development for Inpro Corporation. He has 25 years of experience as a senior leader serving the last 14 years at Inpro. Betsy Lewandowski is a Product Manager for Inpro, an industry leader in interior and exterior architectural products. In her 16 years with Inpro, Betsy has worked on sales and product teams in Inpro’s Signage, Wall Protection and Privacy System/Window Treatment divisions. She currently focuses on providing standard and custom product options and solutions to best fit a project’s needs for privacy systems and window treatments across many different industries, with careful consideration for the unique demands of commercial environments. Kevin Zurowski is a Sales Manager at Inpro. Peter J. Arsenault, FAIA, NCARB, LEED-AP is a registered architect, sustainability consultant, author, and speaker based in St. Louis, Missouri. A 1977 graduate of Syracuse University, his multi-faceted work has focused on principles of high performance buildings including energy, code compliance, safety, and sustainability. His 40 year career includes design and planning for a wide range of public and private clients on governmental, educational, health care, residential, and religious buildings. Mr. Arsenault has served at the local, state, and national level of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the US Green Building Council (USGBC), led AIA Sustainable Design Assessment Team (SDAT) programs across the U.S. and is also a member of the Advisory Board of the AIA+2030 series. |

- Identify the ways that privacy curtains are used in healthcare settings to allow health care providers to assess patients while maintaining privacy, comply with HIPPA regulations, and promote general patient welfare.
- Investigate the Healthier Hospital Initiative (HHI) and the ways that it applies to the use of antimicrobial products in the interest of improved health and wellness of hospital patients.
- Explore recent studies that look at the difference in effectiveness, cleanliness, and economics of using either washable or disposable privacy curtains.
