Multifamily buildings are commonly beset with a variety of unique demands and conditions that need to be interpreted and coordinated by architects and designers. From the business concerns of the owner to the relationships between all involved in the project, to the needs and safety of the end users, there are multiple inter-related design decisions to make. This course looks at some of the big picture issues as well as some important details related to balancing the desire for well-designed living units with popular amenities, safety, durability, and livability.

Peter

Peter J. Arsenault, FAIA, NCARB, LEED-AP is a registered architect, sustainability consultant, author, and speaker based in Ballwin, Missouri. A 1977 graduate of Syracuse University, his multi-faceted work has focused on principles of high performance buildings including energy, code compliance, safety, and sustainability.


John

John Roland Abisch is a licensed architect with over 15 years in the industry, and 8 years in the Charlotte, NC market. John has designed over 3,000 units throughout the country and has extensive experience in mixed-use and multi-family projects, ranging from 3-story wood framed apartment buildings to concrete and steel high rise construction. He currently holds an active license in NY, VA, NC & SC.


Tom

Tom Roller is a 20-year veteran at Inpro. He stated literally at the ground floor in Shipping and Receiving, through inside and outside sales positions, and is now in Regional Sales Management for the Elevator Interiors division. He is currently enrolled in the NAEC Vertical Transportation Management certification program.

Justin

Justin Lofting is the Western Regional Manager for the Jointmaster division of inpro Corporation with 20 years’ experience working with seismic expansion joint covers and fire barriers for multiple manufactures as both an independent representative and a direct factory employee. His responsibilities include support of the architectural, consultant and contractor community with product selection, specification development, code review, project estimating as well as project substrate review and installation. His experience in representing and specifying building envelope materials such as single-ply roofing, vertical air-vapor-water barriers and traditional water proofing materials allows Mr. Lofting a unique skill set to assist in the proper continuity of building envelope design as it relates to the installation of expansion joints and fire barriers. His project type focus of Mixed-Use and Multi-Family development over the past 8 years has resulted in being the basis-of-design and lead design development consultant for many of the largest architectural firms specializing in this market in the West.
