Known for their desirable wood-emulating aesthetic, PVC and composite deck boards have become popular building materials for outdoor living spaces because of their ability to withstand harsh climates and heavy foot traffic. This course will focus on how design professionals can utilize these durable deck boards as compelling alternatives to wood cladding in the design of high-performance, low-maintenance modern rainscreen systems. It will introduce bamboo-based composite and PVC offerings and how to specify them to improve on-the-wall fade- and weather-resistance. Lastly, the course will provide strategies for using these boards to deliver a contemporary aesthetic and low cost of ownership.
