Learning Objectives:
- Distinguish how the roofing materials are tested to meet or exceed the building code criteria.
- Classify the roof components including membrane, cover boards, insulation, thermal barriers fasteners, adhesives and typical roofing assembly.
- Review how the roofing assemblies are tested for impact, heat aging and fire.
- Identity the need for proper uplift design in respect to certification, roof assembly and perimeter edge.

This course will focus on Chapter 15 of the International Building Code to show how roofing materials and assemblies are tested and installed. From roof coverings, cover boards, insulation, thermal barriers, securement methods and overburden, such as vegetated roofs, pavers and photovoltaic, will all be reviewed to ensure code compliance. In addition, a review of the exterior fire test, interior fire test, and wind resistance for the roof assemblies and edge metals. This webinar will also offer some additional resources, such as UL, FM Global, SPRI standards and Dora listings.

Amanda Hickman, serves as President and Consultant at The Hickman Group, an independent code-consulting firm located in Plantation, Fla. Amanda has also served on ICC Technical Code Committees, Florida Building Commission workgroups as well as field studies for the U.S. Department of Energy. She is a former Certified Residential Energy Inspector and Plans Examiner, a Certified Green Professional and a Class 2 Energy Gauge Rater. |
Randy Ober, has more than 35 years of commercial roofing experience and possesses a wide range of expertise in single-ply materials. In 2016, he opened his own consulting company, MrHeatWeld Roof Consulting Services LLC. Throughout his career, he has held a number of senior positions and has been a pioneer in the development and promotion of TPO roofing systems. Randy currently serves in a number of leadership roles within ASTM and is a past recipient of the ASTM Award of Merit and Distinguished Leadership Award. Beginning in 2020, he assumed the role of Technical Director of Single Ply Roofing Industry. Randy currently serves on the Board of the Cool Roof Rating Council as well as Roofing Industry Committee on Weather Issues. |
