Reliable, efficient energy is of critical importance for large scale commercial operations. As the U.S. faces significant challenges with the electrical grid, businesses must ensure they are able to meet their energy demands by considering alternative, grid independent forms of power generation. Propane can play an important role in these large-scale power generation systems. This technology is available now to support prime power, back-up power and microgrid use. Additionally, propane-powered equipment provides a cleaner option than diesel counterparts while also offering less maintenance and lower costs. There are many proven propane technologies and equipment from established manufacturers that can support large scale commercial operations and applications.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
  1. Analyze the challenges confronting the U.S. electric grid, in both generation and distribution, while applying responsible solutions and new technologies to overcome these obstacles and add resilience.
  2. Apply propane-based technology to support back-up power and microgrid use.
  3. Design and specify propane as a fuel source for large scale power generation systems and prime power.
  4. Examine how propane-powered equipment provides a cleaner option than diesel counterparts while also requiring less maintenance and offering lower costs.
