Born and trained in Mexico City, Enrique Norten founded TEN Arquitectos in 1986. Forty years later, TEN Arquitectos has produced built work across two continents and a body of thought Norten continues to shape and advance — most recently as Líder Intelectual of the Cátedra de Ciudades at the Universidad Iberoamericana, his alma mater. Norten holds some of the most distinguished named chairs in North American architectural education. He served as Ella Warren Schafer Miller Professor of Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania from 1998 to 2018. He has also held the Eero Saarinen Visiting Professorship at the Yale School of Architecture, the Emil Lorch Professorship of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Michigan, and the Eliot Noyes Visiting Design Critic position at the Harvard Design School. His work and career have been recognized with the most significant honors in the field. In 2024 he received the Premio Luis Barragán from the Colegio de Arquitectos de la Ciudad de México and the Sociedad de Arquitectos Mexicanos, and in 2023 the Premio Lorenzo H. Zambrano from Cemex. Earlier distinctions include the Medalla Bellas Artes from the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes and the Secretaría de Cultura (2018), the Richard J. Neutra Award for Professional Excellence from California State Polytechnic University (2015), the Legacy Award in Design from the Smithsonian Latino Center (2007), and the Leonardo da Vinci World Award of Arts from the World Cultural Council (2005).

Lap Chi Kwong and Alison Von Glinow founded Kwong Von Glinow (KVG) in Chicago in 2017 on the belief that architecture is meant to be enjoyed. The work of the award-winning practice translates forward-looking architectural concepts into playful designs with broad appeal. Taking an optimistic and explorative approach, KVG focuses on creating innovative living environments, places for cultural engagement, urban public space, and contemporary workspaces. Completed projects range from single-family houses to multi-family residential buildings, public and cultural spaces, exhibitions, and designed objects. KVG won a Design Vanguard Award from Architectural Record in 2022.

D’Arcy Jones, AIA, DDes, is an architect and founder of Vancouver-based D’Arcy Jones Architects. His work spans residences, cultural buildings, heritage restorations, and community projects, earning recognition such as the Canada Council’s Prix de Rome in Architecture, the Architectural League of New York’s Emerging Voices award, and the 2024 Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize Outstanding Project award. Jones serves on the editorial board of Dalhousie Architectural Press, is an Adjunct Professor in the Doctor of Design program at the University of Calgary, and is an Assistant Teaching Professor at Montana State University. His studio’s current research examines how lessons embedded in historic construction can inform contemporary architecture.
