The rise in natural disaster events has led to insurance claims in the billions of dollars, and most importantly, loss of life. This trend has prompted standards such as ES-1 and GT-1 to be added to the International Building Code, but what else can be done to mitigate risk? Through this course, learn about how specifying the roof edge is the single most cost-effective enhancement for wind uplift on a commercial roof and how you can help mitigate risk and protect lives through design.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
  1. Cover the critical need for properly rated and tested edge metal for the entire building securement.
  2. Recognize the risk trends for the industry and how to mitigate through design.
  3. Gain perspective of risk from the insurers point of view.
  4. See how risk mitigation is critical through real life examples, the importance of code, and ramifications if it is not met.
