Green Globes Certification: Rigor Meets Accessibility

Improving sustainability and accelerate decarbonization

Sponsored by The Green Building Initiative

Sustainable design and construction improve the built environment’s impact on climate and society. Green Globes® for New Construction (NC) 2021 is the implementation of a consensus-based ANSI Standard (ANSI/GBI 01-2021: Green Globes Assessment Protocol for Design, New Construction and Major Renovations) that drives innovation in sustainability, promotes a healthy and safe environment for tenants, and encourages life cycle thinking from project conception. This third-party assessment and certification system serves as a comprehensive design guide, used to elevate the sustainability and future operational practices for new construction and major renovation projects. Attendees will learn how to apply GBI’s Green Globes and Green Globes Journey to Net Zero™ programs to improve sustainability and to measure and accelerate decarbonization efforts in all types of new commercial real estate.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
  1. Explain the relationship of the Green Building Initiative with Green Globes, a three-in-one certification that evaluates the sustainability, health and wellness, and resilience of individual buildings or entire portfolios.
  2. Review the Green Globes NC online questionnaire and other resources available for evaluating methods to achieve energy savings, decrease maintenance costs, and reduce environmental impacts.
  3. Summarize the Green Globes assessment process and identify the available user support tools.
  4. Recall the Green Globes NC environmental assessment areas, key concepts, scoring method, and critical design strategies to deliver high performance buildings and understand how the Green Globes Journey to Net Zero complements Green Globes building certification and advances decarbonization in the global built environment.
