The New Era of Acoustical Design  

Sean Browne is the Senior Manager of the Research & Development group at Armstrong, where he leads a team of innovative engineers and scientists. He is responsible for the company’s Codes & Standards Program, which informs customers of the latest developments in acoustics and building regulations. He is also an active member of the Acoustical Society of America (ASA), ASTM International, and ASHRAE. He has engineering degrees from Florida State University and the University of Miami, and has written for various architectural and interior magazines. His research has been featured in the journals of the International Symposium on Room Acoustics and the Acoustical Society of America.

Charles Salter, PE has practiced acoustical engineering for over 50 years. With educational backgrounds in architecture, planning, engineering, and business, he has conducted a wide range of consulting in the areas of architectural acoustics, noise control engineering, and environmental noise impact. He has had project responsibility for various facility types including schools, recreation centers, offices, theaters, residences, hospitals, and civic buildings. Mr. Salter is a Continuing Lecturer at UC Berkeley College of Environmental Design and graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, B.S. Art and Design: Architecture Concentration, Minor: City Planning, Tufts University, B.S.C.E Structural Engineering, Minor: Economics.

Liesl Morell, is an Architectural Sales Manager with Armstrong World Industries, supporting the San Francisco and Northern California design community. Building upon her experience as an interior designer, a LEED AP and WELL AP, and working with the sustainability team at Armstrong, Liesl has advocated for products that meet today's most stringent sustainability goals and contribute to towards healthy indoor environmental quality.
