Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) First Cost Comparison
This continuing education course compares and contrasts four HVAC systems against VRF system costs. Using a building scenario as the basis of the comparison, contractor costs for common installation components are compared. In addition, the building costs for each HVAC system type are reviewed and compared against a VRF baseline.
Learning Objectives
- Identify and describe Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) system technology.
- Use a building construction scenario to compare and contrast the strengths and weaknesses of HVAC mechanical systems and VRF.
- Differentiate the initial equipment contractor costs for installing a HVAC mechanical system and a VRF system.
- Review the architectural, structural, electrical, and total building costs of five types of HVAC systems.
