Creative Freedom Through Targeted Acoustics

Nowhere is it more important to reduce noise and stress than in healthcare facilities. High noise levels can lead to stressed-out patients who can’t rest or heal and stressed-out doctors and nurses who are more prone to make mistakes and suffer from burnout. Creating low-noise, low-stress healthcare environments can increase work productivity and accuracy and help provide the restful surroundings needed for recuperation. In this course, you will learn how noise impacts healthcare worker productivity and patient recovery, as wells as techniques and products for controlling acoustics while maintaining design flexibility in various healthcare spaces.

Learning Objectives

  1. Discuss the negative impact of noise and the benefits of effective sound control.
  2. Define industry standards for acoustical measurements and their relevance in design.
  3. Create dynamic spaces through activity based design.
  4. Discuss the importance of coverage and placement when designing for optimal acoustics.
