Building A Bird-Friendly Chicago

This Live Event happened on September 20, 2018 (12:00pm - 1:00pm CST)

Chicago must be a healthy place for people, plants and animals. However, thousands of birds die each year as the result of commonplace planning, design and construction practices. Addressing this issue is more important than ever given the high concentration of development proposed along the Chicago River. Learn about the magnitude of this problem and examples of what can be achieved. Representatives of several local organzations such as ASLA Illinois and the Chicago Ornithological Society will talk with us about bird strike and habitat depletion issues; bird-friendly design techniques, material selection and facility operational strategies; and the opportunities, and feasibility of a Chicago bird-friendly design ordinance. Bring your lunch; beverages provided.
