A single manufacturer supplied all of the people moving systems at four of Brazil’s World Cup stadiums in 2014, an event that saw a more than 3.4 million spectators. For the World Cup event, a total of 68 elevators and escalators were installed at the Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, the Estadio Beira Rio in Porto Alegre, the Arena Castelao in Fortaleza and the Arena Pantanal in Cuiaba. In total, these products are capable of moving nearly 200,000 football fans at a time within all four stadiums.

In order to facilitate people coming and going from these facilities, they were also connected to mass transit lines that required mobility solutions. The installed systems have been recognized for their superior performance under highly demanding operating conditions. The city’s new metro stations were provided with 38 new escalators, plus 15 new escalators delivered for stations of the Sao Paulo commuter trains company (CPTM). The same company also supplied 377 elevators and 157 escalators for the expansion of the São Paulo metro system, including the fastest escalator installed in Brazil, operating at a 0.75 metres per second. With this supply of advanced mobility solutions, the systems ensure efficient passenger flow of the almost eight million commuters who travel daily via Sao Paulo’s rail and metro stations.

Also in 2014, a new moving walkway system capable of attracting up to 30% additional passengers to metro stations and cut transit times in airports by up to two-thirds, was introduced as an excellent solution tailored for countries such as Brazil, which are experiencing rapid urban development.
