There have been a lot of developments in energy storage technology over the last several years. This has been primarily driven by the general trend and expanded use of sustainable but intermittent power sources, such as wind and solar. Some data center designers and operators are examining how energy storage technology could also be utilized to reduce generator requirements.

However, for data center applications there are a number of issues to be considered, since continuous and reliable backup power is equally and, in some ways, perhaps even more important than primary utility service.

In this part of our series of webinars, we will examine considerations utilizing energy storage systems when specifying and selecting power systems for data centers.
