Continuing Education

Use the following learning objectives to focus your study while reading this month’s Continuing Education article.

Learning Objectives - After reading this article, you will be able to:

  1. Identify the current types of roof coating and LAM materials on the U.S. commercial low-slope roofing market.
  2. Discuss recent material formulation developments, advancements in application equipment and insight on when and where to use these materials.
  3. Show proper application requirements, including proper preparation, general conditions, surface conditions, weather constraints and coverage rates.
  4. Present examples and case studies of proper, successful applications that have extended the service life of existing roofs, as well as improper applications that led to premature roof failures.

Roof coatings and liquid applied membranes (LAMs) have been used in commercial roofing applications for decades. Their recent gains in market share on the U.S. commercial roofing market as restoration systems are attributed to technological advancements in material formulations and application equipment. In addition, as the current industry-wide material shortages expand into another year, more building owners are moving forward with restoration projects.

This webinar will focus on some of the changes to the material formulations. It will also provide insight and when and where to use these materials. This webinar will equip participants with the proper material application methods, including preparation, temperature constraints, coverage rates, and specific application techniques. Examples of proper application methods will be given, as well as examples of how improper application methods contribute to project failures.
